HMRC have announced that the first Self-Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS) application will close on 13th July 2020 so if you have not already applied and wish to then please do so.
The first grant was worth 80% of an individual’s average monthly trading profits covering three months capped at £7,500. The second grant available will be worth 70% of the same calculation and capped at £6,570. The eligibility criteria is exactly the same as the first grant, however you will need to have been adversely affected by Covid-19 on or after 14th July 2020, and you will be able to make the claim in August 2020.
The guidance with regards to whether you have been adversely affected includes the following:
1 You’re unable to work because you:
• are shielding
• are self-isolating
• are on sick leave because of coronavirus
• have caring responsibilities because of coronavirus
2 You’ve had to scale down or temporarily stop trading because:
• your supply chain has been interrupted
• you have fewer or no customers or clients
• your staff are unable to come in to work
